The Vineyard – Heart of Gallura and Land of Vermentino
Nestled in the granite heart of Gallura, among rolling hills and views overlooking the sea and the mountains, lies our vineyard: a corner of Sardinia where time seems to slow down and nature expresses itself with strength and authenticity. Here, in a unique and generous microclimate, Vermentino di Gallura DOCG is born, the island's most iconic white wine and the only one in all of Sardinia to hold the Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin.
Territory and climate: Vermentino's natural allies
The vineyard is located at an altitude between 200 and 300 meters above sea level, on ancient granite soils, poor in organic matter but rich in minerals. These well-drained soils, combined with constant ventilation from both the Tyrrhenian Sea and the inland mountains, create ideal conditions for growing grapes, and Vermentino in particular.
The marked temperature variations between day and night favor the development of the grape's primary aromas, contributing to a fresh, savory, and extraordinarily fragrant wine. The sun, present for much of the year, ensures complete but never forced ripening, maintaining the balance between sugars and acidity.
The vine: an authentic expression of Gallura
The Vermentino grown in our vineyard is the result of a careful selection of native grape varieties, perfectly adapted to the Gallura region. Cultivation follows sustainable methods that respect biodiversity: from green pruning to manual harvesting, every step is aimed at respecting the vine and its natural cycle.
The vines are primarily trained using low espaliers to protect the bunches from the wind and ensure adequate sun exposure. Yields per hectare are intentionally low, ensuring top-quality grapes, rich in aromatics and boasting great structure.
The wine: Vermentino di Gallura DOCG
The result of this extraordinary balance between nature and human labor is an elegant and complex wine: Vermentino of Gallura DOCG. It has a bright straw yellow color, occasionally with golden highlights. On the nose, it offers a broad and enveloping bouquet, with notes of white flowers, citrus, yellow-fleshed fruit, Mediterranean herbs, and a light salty hint reminiscent of the proximity of the sea.
On the palate, it's dry, fresh, and mineral, with a full yet harmonious structure that enhances its persistence and pleasantness. Perfect with fish, shellfish, fresh cheeses, and traditional island pasta dishes, it's also ideal as a refined aperitif.
Tradition, innovation and respect for the land
Growing Vermentino in Gallura is more than just an agricultural activity, but an act of love for an ancient and precious land. Our vineyard is a testament to knowledge passed down through generations, today reinterpreted with modern sensibility and cutting-edge winemaking techniques. From the vineyard to the cellar, every stage of the production process is handled with artisanal attention and a spirit of excellence.
Our goal is to produce a Vermentino that not only respects the strict DOCG specifications, but is also a sincere expression of Gallura: proud, rugged, generous, and profoundly authentic.
