GUJIA

Cannonau of Gallura DOCG

The elegance of Sardinian red in the sandy and granite heart of Gallura.

The Wine

Gujia Cannonau di Gallura is a red wine with great structure and personality, made from Cannonau grapes, Sardinia's most iconic red grape variety. In Gallura, this wine expresses a unique character, thanks to the microclimate, sea breezes, and granite and sandy soils that make it unmistakable.

Curiosity:

  • Cannonau is considered one of the oldest grape varieties in the Mediterranean.
  • Gujia is vinified in purity to enhance its authentic qualities.
  • It is one of the protagonists of the “Blue Zone” diet, areas of the world where people live longer.

Territory: Agricultural Company Lu Ecciu

Located in the north-east of Sardinia, Gallura is a rugged and fascinating land, characterised by:

  • Granitic and poor soils, which give minerality and concentration to the wines.
  • Constant winds, including the mistral, which favor the health of the grapes.
  • Significant temperature variations between day and night, which helps preserve aromas and freshness.
  • Variable altitudes between hills and plateaus, ideal for quality viticulture.

This unique environment gives Gujia a superior finesse compared to productions from other areas of the island.

Organoleptic Characteristics

Color:
Intense ruby red, with garnet reflections that become more pronounced with aging.

Scent:
A complex and enveloping bouquet, with notes of ripe red fruits (cherry, blackberry, plum), sweet spices (vanilla, black pepper), and light balsamic and herbaceous nuances. Earthy and leathery tones emerge with aging.

Taste:
On the palate, it is warm, soft, and structured, with elegant, well-integrated tannins. The balance between alcohol, acidity, and body provides a long, persistent finish with spicy and fruity aftertaste.

Abbinamenti Gastronomici

Gujia is perfect with:

  • Red and white meat.
  • Roast meat (lamb, pork).
  • Stewed wild boar.
